Performance Trampolines

If air time and exhilaration are what you want from a trampoline, whether that be for sports training or for sheer enjoyment, then a rectangular trampoline is the choice for you. Very simply, the larger the trampoline the higher the performance rating.

Generally speaking there are 2 choices when considering a garden trampoline – round or rectangular. Round are good fun but require a lot of effort and expertise to gain height. With a rectangular trampoline the springs are not all the same distance from the centre of the trampoline bed and therefore they work at different rates. Energy is not lost in stretching springs unnecessarily and so the user’s effort is returned more efficiently, resulting in a better bounce.

2-string Bed

Sports trampolines in the UK have traditionally been made from white nylon webbing, woven in an open basket weave and then stitched to hold the webbing in place. This provides the ultimate bounce but is unable to withstand the weather. In other parts of the world, specifically Australia, where outdoor trampolining really started in the 1950s, they needed beds that could be left outside but still deliver plenty of bounce. So the 2-string bed was developed and 50 years later they are still hade made in Western Australia for Super Tramp.

The 2-string bed, as fitted to the Super Tramp Boomer, Super Kangaroo and Super Wallaby, is constructed from hundred of individual nylon ‘strings’ that are hand woven side by side in an open basket weave and then coated with a special UV resistant solution creating a durable, non slip, quick drying, powerful and responsive trampoline bed.

They are higher in performance than the standard polymesh bed because the open weave allows the air to pass through thereby reducing the loss of power due to air resistance. If recoated every 3 to 6 years (depending on use) your 2-stirng bed should last for at least 15 years. Please note that the coated 2-string beds are quite resistant when new and will not deliver full performance until ‘well bounced in’. It will probably take about 30 hours of teenage or adult bouncing before the full performance kicks in. After that, it just gets better and better.

2-string Advantages

  • Nylon, unlike polypropylene is stretchy with a 100% memory, providing extra power.
  • 2-stirng beds dry out quickly after rainfall as water quickly passes through the weave.
  • The open weave allows air to pass through with less resistance, giving more bounce.
  • The unique coating provides a non-slip bouncing surface and eliminates static charge build-up.
  • Cut or broken strings can be ‘invisibly’ repaired.
  • These beds can be completely reconditioned after years of use by a recording process.

    Frame Pad Elevators

The Frame Pad Elevator kit, as supplied with the Super Tramp Boomer, Super Kangaroo, Kangaroo, Super Wallaby and Wallaby consists of 2 long and 2 short webbing straps. When tensioned, the straps hold the trampoline frame pads off the springs and the bed. This has the effect of eliminating ‘pad slap’ (springs hitting the underside of the pads after a bounce) resulting in a quieter bounce and increased performance due to the reduction of friction.

    Nylon Anchor Straps

Also fitted to Super Tramp Performance trampolines are nylon anchor straps which wrap around the top rail of the trampoline and attach to the spring. The advantage is that it eliminates the requirement to drill into the frame in order to accept the spring hook reducing the wear on the frame and because there is no contact between the frame and the spring there is a noise reduction. In the event of a heavy landing close to the edge, the nylon anchor strap becomes sacrificial and therefore saves on the cost of replacing the more expensive part – the spring.
